Summary of Role

Group Benefits Advisor, Focused on New Sales Acquisition

Working under the supervision of the Vice President, you will leverage your extensive knowledge of employee benefits products, industry trends, services, programs, pricing methodology, and market positioning to analyze benefit programs, develop clear and sustainable recommendations, and present strategic solutions to prospects and clients.

This role is primarily focused on new business development; however, the Advisor maintains ongoing ownership of the client relationship, acting as the strategic lead through renewal cycles and long-term plan evolution, in partnership with the service and account management team.

You will use your sales expertise and relationship-building skills to generate new business from the Immix network, your own network, and targeted marketing initiatives, while developing strong and lasting relationships with both supplier partners and clients.

New Business Development

  • Prospect, develop, and close new group benefits opportunities.
  • Generate leads through networking, referrals, Centers of Influence (COIs), and marketing campaigns.
  • Develop and execute strategic sales plans to achieve acquisition targets.

Strategic Advisory & Proposal Development

  • Analyze program design including benefit coverage, pricing methodology, and financial structure.
  • Assess the appropriateness of plan design using benchmarking tools and industry insights.
  • Evaluate efficiency of benefits spend and recommend optimization strategies.
  • Develop sustainable, client-focused solutions that align with organizational objectives.
  • Present clear, transparent, and professional proposals that reflect Immix brand values.

Ongoing Relationship Management & Program Renewal

  • Serve as the strategic relationship lead for assigned clients following acquisition.
  • Lead annual renewal strategy discussions in collaboration with the service and account management team.
  • Present renewal analysis, market positioning, and strategic recommendations to clients.
  • Maintain executive-level relationships with key client stakeholders (ownership, HR, finance).
  • Identify emerging client needs and proactively recommend plan enhancements or alternative strategies.
  • Support client retention by ensuring continued alignment between plan design, cost management, and organizational goals.

Collaboration & Internal Partnership

  • Work closely with the service and account management team to ensure seamless onboarding, implementation, and ongoing client support.
  • Collaboratively develop retention strategies to meet both acquisition and retention goals.
  • Partner with internal teams to ensure high service standards and client satisfaction.
  • Share product and market expertise internally; act as a resource on carrier programs and industry developments.

Carrier & Market Relationships

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with insurer and vendor partners.
  • Stay current on insurer offerings, underwriting practices, and emerging market trends.
  • Leverage carrier relationships to negotiate competitive pricing and solutions for clients.

Accountability

  • Achieve defined new business acquisition targets.
  • Contribute to overall client retention and growth goals.
  • Maintain high client satisfaction and long-term relationship stability.
  • Support revenue growth through cross-sell and upsell within existing accounts.

Experience & Education Requirements

  • 5+ years experience in group benefits industry
  • Proven background in outside sales.
  • In-depth knowledge of pricing, underwriting and benefit products
  • Licensed through Insurance Council of BC with LLQP
  • Completed University degree
  • GBA and/or CEBS designation or willing to work towards

Compensation Details

  • Base salary approximately $50 000 plus tiered commissions based on achieving revenue targets.
